Who are the Magnificent Mutts? Magnificent Mutts is a group of dedicated volunteers who provide love, hope and a safe sanctuary to our animals in need. They transport, foster, feed and train our many animals. The volunteers give their time and love to the dogs so the dogs learn that humans do indeed care. Not all volunteers foster; their are many other areas where help is needed such as: organizing/running adoption and fundraising events, writing/creating flyers, and other various marketing efforts. We work as a team, and use all of our skills to benefit the animals and the organization. We are always seeking dog-lovers who want to contribute their time and effort to help us achieve our goals. If you are interested in becoming a Mutts Volunteer, please see our page on Volunteering or contact Linda now! Magnificent Mutts' Mission StatementMagnificent Mutts Rescue is a non-for-profit, 501(c)3, licensed animal shelter dedicated to caring for and finding loving homes for any breed of dog abandoned, abused, neglected or in need of assistance for any reason. We will reduce the number of dogs in kill-shelters by educating the public on issues such as the importance of proper training, animal health, and puppy mills through our public outreach and training programs. Magnificent Mutts' Founder Linda Latelle founded Magnificent Mutts Rescue in 2001 as a way of channeling her passion for animal welfare into a lifesaving pursuit. Linda's vision was to save pet-quality animals in high-kill shelters from euthanasia by matching them with responsible, committed and optimal families. Magnificent Mutts' Foster Homes Magnificent Mutts Rescue relies on volunteers who provide safe and loving homes for rescued animals until permanent homes can be found. Magnificent Mutts provides all food and crates, along with covering all the medical costs for the animals upfront. We ask only that foster families open their hearts to animals in need - we provide the essentials, the foster parents provide the love. Our Magnificent Mutts Themselves The majority of animals placed by Magnificent Mutts Rescue are domestic dogs. However, animals of other species such as cats, birds, ferrets, and even horses have also found permanent homes through our efforts. As our name indicates, we are an all-breed rescue group, which has equal dedication to a success in finding adoptive homes for both purebreds and mixed breeds. All animals are vet checked, de-wormed, micro-chipped, and vaccinated against communicable diseases. They are also temperament tested and placed in temporary care homes, where they benefit from household socialization in a family setting. For a preview of animals offered for adoption, as well as information on temporary care homes (foster homes), volunteer opportunities, or any questions please feel free to contact us.

Why Magnificent Animals Need HelpMany of you who have adopted animals from us know part of the story. Many
of our Magnificent Mutts, the ones that become your beloved household pets,
were saved from high-kill shelters.
But what many of you may not know is that without our Linda, many of those animals would have been put to death. Linda is a legend among animal rescuers in a state she's rarely visited -- Kentucky -- where she has saved the lives of hundreds of pets. Linda has asked us to post the letter and video link below to help people better understand the lives of the animals we've saved, and why they are so grateful. Hi all,Please feel free to share this with anyone,
or any lists that you feel should see this.
I'm going to find out how Bev can put the link on URKY. I forgot how I got it on our webpages in past, but my hubby will help me with that once he gets home. I'm not that computer literate, lol. I tried to use almost all the pics that were
sent to me, but the song length (had trouble
finding a song that would allow me to use so
many pics) prevented using every single one. I
used some from what each person sent me and
tried to keep their stories to go with the
pictures that were sent. I hope I did them all
some justice in the video.
My intent of this was several things. I wanted to put some faces with our KY animals so that the average person - joe public - not in rescue could see this and want to help our cause. I also wanted to give some credit to all the wonderful people (even those not in the video), for the work we all know we do tirelessly day after day in the name of rescue. I wanted to show the animal at the shelter or in need, who came from a bad home or off the street, but made it to rescue or into a new home. While the ending for me was bitter sweet as there are those we have lost, I think people need to know what we "see" everyday when we do this. It is not always the happy ending we hope for and it's not all roses and sunshine. I think people need that rude awakening to know that this is a serious problem in Kentucky and everywhere else for that matter and if ONE person pays attention to this, or contributes to help one of our KY animals, then the video did it's job. Enjoy: Debbie :)
